Parenting Patterns With Children Use Of Gadgets In Cimpu Village Suli Sub-District Luwu District

ABSTRACT

Indonesia itself is included in the ranking of the "big five" countries that use gadgets, especially smartphones. The percentage of gadget users, including children, is quite high, namely 79.5%. This study aims to determine the relationship between parenting and the use of gadgets in children. The method used is a cross sectional approach design. Sampling by purposive sampling as many as 51 people, with the data collection instrument is a questionnaire. Data analysis using the chi square test showed that the p value = 0.034 the hypothesis was accepted, which means that there is a relationship between democratic parenting and the use of gadgets. For permissive parenting, it was found that the p value = 0.034 hypothesis was accepted so that it was said that there was a relationship between permissive parenting and the use of gadgets. From the results of this study there is no negative relationship between authoritarian parenting and the use of gadgets, because the results of the data obtained indicate there is a positive relationship between parenting styles other than authoritarian. It is recommended that parents pay more attention to the use of gadgets in children and for further researchers to examine the variables of parental communication patterns in children
