Abstract

Data on the incidence of diabetes mellitus according to the International Diabetes Federation [IDF] (2014) mentions that 382 million people have diabetes and by 2035 will increase to 592 million people. The number of people with type 2 diabetes mellitus increases in every country and 80% of diabetics live in low- and middle-income countries. This is certainly a problem that should get early attention in minimizing the number of DM patients. The study aimed to determine the influence of diabetic leg exercises on increasing leg sensitivity and blood sugar level in non ulcer of DM type 2 patients in Puskesmas of North Wara Palopo.  It applied quasy-exsperimental design one group pre-post test with convenience sampling according to Gay and Giehl concept 15 respondents. Assessment instruments used the scale leg sensitivity and blood sugar level.

The result showed better blood sugar levels after given diabetic leg exercises as well as leg sensitivity (p value 0,000). Leg sensitivity showed bettter by respondents after given diabetic leg exercises (p value 0,000). Diabetic leg exercises is one of the interventions that nurses can provide in treating DM patients to control blood sugar within the normal range and increase the leg sensitivity of the patient to prevent diabetic ulcers.
